Some teams build loudly. Others build steadily, across borders, disciplines, and a lot of work behind the scenes. Tecreando belongs to the second group. We recently spent time with Panagiotis Tsatsoulis, Chief Operating Officer, and Nikos Damianakis, Director at Tecreando, who run their satellite office from Stone Soup Coworking in Athens. We chatted about their journey, their work, and what it really takes to turn research into companies.

A team shaped by different fields and shared history
Tecreando is a European team of Greek, Dutch, and Italian founders working across technology development, venture building for startups, and executive search. The company started with five founders and has now grown to eleven. Many team members had already collaborated in the past, bringing strong experience as executives, engineers, and entrepreneurs together. This shared history made it easy for them to move between projects in research, tech, and business at Tecreando.
Venture building for startups, from the inside
A large part of Tecreando’s work is venture building for startups, especially those emerging from universities and research labs. However, for them its not about polishing pitches or following the latest trends, it is about doing the less visible work early on. Like, shaping business models, validating real use cases, and helping research teams step confidently outside academia.
In technology and software development, they create advanced tools using AI, machine learning, biomedical applications, and cultural heritage diagnostics for clients across Europe. Also, their AI-powered executive search, run by the Dutch team, finds top talent for high-tech and deep-tech companies, helping businesses connect with the right people.

Resilience before recognition
The early years were demanding. For almost three years, Tecreando operated without EU funded projects. The team worked largely unpaid, keeping the company alive through parallel work while building trust, clients, and collaborations from scratch. At the same time, they were navigating different countries, systems, and bureaucracies. Those years were likely crucial for Tecreando’s growth, giving them the experience and processes needed to manage uncertainty and establish sustainable practices. Today, they are running five European funded projects and continuing to grow with intention.
From university lab to company: Holometrica
One project that captures their approach is Holometrica, a deep tech venture that commercialises DHSPI holographic interferometry to detect subsurface defects in artworks. Tecreando has been involved from the very beginning, working side by side with researchers to turn a complex lab technology into a market ready solution.
Their role covered the full venture building for startups process, from global IP strategy and venture design to validating products with real users. Holometrica is now expanding beyond cultural heritage into areas like skin diagnostics, industry, and aviation.
For us at Stone Soup Coworking, hosting teams like Tecreando is a reminder that some of the most meaningful innovation happens quietly, through persistence, cross disciplinary thinking, and a deep respect for both science and real world impact.
